An unfortunate casualty of the lower budgets and declining ratings for soaps, just like John/Marlena on DouL. What I really loved about Victor is that he reminds me of my favorite comic book villain, Darksied from the Superman books, due to his temperment and belief in his almost divine right to rule. It was great to see that played out in a slightly more realistic setting than in a comic with lots of superpowers.
And I'm still upset about Colleen!

The character still had a place on the show. Without her, JT only has the evil cheating hussy of a wife for a love interest, Jack has no younger generation to protect, Billy has no one to bring out the selfless side in him, and Victoria has no one to bring out her jealosy. I believe the writers needed to resolve the conflicts of those four characters and have them grow in some way before killing off Colleen. Now with both Victor and Colleen gone, I don't have any interest in the show anymore.
