is there a way to set up the birthday thread with the calendar of whose birthday is coming up. that was on the other board and it was kind of a nice feature. thanks

There are separate boards for Game, Chit Chat etc. If you want to see the newest threads in each one, click on the main category that they are in first, vs just the board jump link itself on the main page. There is a calendar in this program that everyone can use and update as they wish...should show everyone what you put on it.
