Sound's Tasty Treats
Salami Cheese Bread Snack
1 loaf frozen white bread dough
8 oz. Italian salami - chopped - or regular HARD salami
8 oz. shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
stone ground mustard
Thaw bread. Follow instructions to let rise. When you would normally bake it, punch down and roll out as thin as possible. Spread stone ground mustard on dough then the cheese and the salami. Roll up like you would a jelly roll, tucking the ends as you roll. Place seam side down on greased jelly roll pan. Prick the top like you would a pie crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes until brown. Slice and enjoy. These can be frozen and stored for later use. Oh, and men seem to love 'em.
Or you can use those tubes of crescent rolls. Press them all together and proceed as above. Bake at 350 for about 15 -20 min.

Potato Casserole ~ NOT fattening
24 oz of shredded frozen hash brown potatoes
1 pint 1/2 and 1/2 (don't use regular milk or whipping cream - the taste is all wrong)
1/2 to 1 stick of butter
1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
Butter a 11 x 15 pan
Add hash browns - still frozen
Heat 1/2 and 1/2 and butter until warm and butter is melted
pour over frozen potatoes
spread parmesan over the top

Re: Sound's Tasty Treats
"Sound" Italian Potato Salad
1 1/2 lbs. potatoes cooked with skins ( I nuke mine)
1/2 cup sliced green onions
1/4 cup black olives or green or mixture of both
1/4 cup chopped red or yellow (or both) peppers
1 to 2 TBS capers more or less to taste - DO NOT OMIT
1 clove of garlic, minced fine
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup good quality white wine vinegar
salt and pepper to taste
Cut cooked dry potatoes (while still very warm) into 1 inch chunks
Add all other ingredients and toss gently to mix
Adjust seasonings and serve at room temp.
I sometimes add a little good quality Caesar or Italian bottled dressing for extra flavor
It can be eaten cold of course, but is really better at room temp

Re: Sound's Tasty Treats
"Original" Twiced Baked Potatoes
baking potatoes
butter
diced green pepper
diced onion
salt and pepper
softened cream cheese
cheddar cheese (shredded)
Saute green peppers and onion in butter - reserve
Bake potatoes until done - 400 degrees for about 45 minutes (depending on size) . Cut open lengthwise and scoop out insides.
Put insides in a bowl and mash. Add softened cream cheese until potatoes have a creamy consistency. Add green peppers, onion, some of the cheddar and salt and pepper to taste. Scoop back into potato skins, top with remaining shredded cheddar cheese and bake until cheese melts.
(You can also add some crumbled up bacon if you want to go crazy!)

Re: Sound's Tasty Treats
Sausage Balls
I've been making this for 30 years. Paula Deen did them not too long ago on one of her shows about breakfast. The funny thing is I've never made it for breakfast. It was always considered a snack food at my house.
1 (1-pound) package bulk sausage (use your favorite)
3 cups Bisquick
4 cups grated Cheddar or Colby (really anything kind of semi-hard cheese would work)
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Spray a baking sheet.
Combine all ingredients in a big bowl. Mix well with your hands. It will be very crumbly. Roll into one inch balls with - once again - your HANDS.
Place the balls on the baking sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes or until brown. They have a tendency to stick, so roll them around about half way through cooking time.

Re: Sound's Tasty Treats
Seven Layer Salad
This salad was everywhere in the 80's. Restaurants even served it.
1 head iceberg lettuce, broken into sm. pieces (classic) or assorted lettuce equivalent
1 large red onion, sliced an separated into rings
4 sliced hard boiled eggs
2 cans sliced water chestnuts - drained (you can substitute thinly sliced celery)
1 pkg. frozen peas, not defrosted
shredded Cheddar cheese
1 lb. bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 cups mayo
Must make the day before.
Layer everything except bacon, starting with lettuce. When you get to mayo, spread carefully to form a seal over salad, then top with cheese. Cover and place in refrigerator overnight. Sprinkle bacon on before serving.
