Re: Nights of Our Lives: A Fanfic Mystery
Part Three:
"You bastard!" The slap was louder than the yell, and could no doubt be heard throughout the mansion.
He turned a wince into a crooked smile. "I love you too, sweetheart."
"Don't you 'sweetheart' me, you two timing scum!"
"Not this again. It's not cheating if we're not sharing a bedroom."
"That is the most flawed logic I've ever heard. Cheating is cheating, and it was your idea to have separate bedrooms."
"I only made a suggestion, Dear." He grinned at her. "You are welcome to return to the master bedroom at any time." He dodged another slap, and pulled her into his arms. "You don't want to do that."
"Don't tell me what I want."
"Alright, then I'll show you." He pulled her into a passionate kiss that somehow started music playing in the background. Neither of them seemed to notice.
Across town, two people were trying desperately to stay calm while their car hung precariously from cliff number 12. "Just stay calm," he told her, even though he was the one who was freaking out. "There's got to be a way out of this." He looked her way, and was a little surprised to see her climbing into the back seat.
"Come on," she said.
"This is hardly the time for fooling around," he protested.
"Don't be an idiot. We need to shift our weight to the back of the car so it doesn't fall off the cliff."
"Oh. I knew that." He carefully climbed into the back with her, cringing at every noise the car made. As he sat down, the car seemed to settle in a more level position. He was relieved, but distracted. "I thought we were going to die."
"We still might," she pointed out, most unhelpfully.
"If anything should happen so that we don't make it out of here, there's something I want to say to you."
"I have something to tell you too."
At that moment, something slammed into the back of the car, sending it over the edge. It flipped over several times before erupting in a giant ball of fire.
A dark shape appeared at the edge of the cliff. "Oops."
